AVF

An autogenous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred vascular access for patients with end-stage kidney disease. AVFs are created by a surgical procedure to connect an artery to the vein. The vein is used to allow to let hemodialysis occur to purify the blood if its toxins. However, narrowings can occur which threaten the function of the fistula.
